Muda is a Japanese word for waste; any activity that consumes resources but creates no value for the customer.
The following seven wastes identify and classify resources which are commonly wasted.
1. Overproduction
2. Unnecessary transportation
3. Inventory
4. Motion
5. Defects
6. Over-Processing
7. Waiting
